Low-impact exercises for dogs?

Postby Akri » Mon Dec 16, 2013 7:01 pm

We recently adopted a 1 year old corgi mix who has a severely twisted front wrist, and as a result is pretty much guaranteed to develop arthritis. There's nothing we can do to prevent it, but we CAN take steps to keep it manageable. And one of those steps is reducing high-impact activities (jumping, running [especially on hard surfaces], sharp turns, etc). The vet has recommended activities like walking and swimming, and I've seen scent games recommended elsewhere, but I'm looking for any other suggestions people might have. I'd like to have a variety of activities that we can do to keep things interesting for him. If anybody has experience with arthritic dogs I'd love any advice you have. An ounce of prevention and all that :)
